We conducted a fund drive for the
families of the Jogimara Victims who perished during
a Royal Nepal Army/Maoist crossfire in Kalikot District,
Nepal. Seventeen young people working as labourers
died that day mistaken for Maoists. The funds provided
immediate relief to the remaining family members of
the victims. COMMITTED was successful in generating
$1,204 from the Nepalese community living in the Washington
DC metropolitan area and hand over the relief amount
to the family members. The action initiated by COMMITTED
caused another group known as 'Bichalit Bartaman'
to conduct an auctioning program which generated an
additional $1,280.
